Jenkins

Today we discussed Jenkins and one of the quotes that came up was, “What distinguishes the telephone from the other great media is its decentralized quality and its universal exchangeability of the positions of sender and receiver.” When this quote was written phones were not like they are today. They were big phones, simply for relaying messages from sender to receiver. It is amazing how far technology has come over the past couple decades. Now phones have become mobile and can do as much as computers. Cell phones are so high tech now that you can do almost anything on them. We live in a world where communication is constant. People watching their favorite television show can now send a text into the show and participate in the voting. For example, American Idol takes viewers at home's opinion in who should be the winning contestant. Spectators are no longer just there to watch, but now they are considered participants.
