Dr. Casey's class 3/7

I really enjoyed Dr. Casey's class on 3/7 and after our class discussion I went to Disney World with a friend who came to town. For everyone else, Disney World is what they think of when they come to Orlando, they think of all the theme parks. I think its funny when friends come to visit and see the other side of Orlando, and yet I still had to bring her to Disney of course. I admit I am a huge Disney buff, and for example I get chills every time I see Magic Kingdom's 3-d experience of Phillar Magic because it brings back positive memories of my childhood when I lived near the Disneyland in LA and my mom would get the annual pass and take me in my stroller with other mother/daughters. Disney is like a drug to kids, and to go along with the Clip that Dr. Casey Showed us with the disney montage in all different languages, it is so visually stimulating that it does not matter what language you are watching it in because you can tell what is going on.

Back to my trip to Disney last weekend kicking off Spring break. I went and saw Epcot in a whole new light, and lets just say I was way more critical. I just spent all last semester living in Italy and was so dissappointed that they chose venice as the place that represented it! ofcourse I knew from just visiting where it was trying to replicate in the city, but it was a little let down when I looked at it from a critical media stand point. I still had fun in each counrty but it was funny how I was there and looked at everything as so fake instead of looking at it like I had in the past. Yet like we said in class, we can still be educated and enjoy it for what it is at the same time.

I just read Jackson's post where he mentioned Logorama and when I ran into Clementine at the airport last monday we were waiting for the same plane and discussed it from a critical media lens and how we should mention it in class! I first saw it watching the oscars when it won, and I thought we should discuss it because of how much it relates to our major.
