This week in class we covered post -modern architecture. We discussed the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is interesting to see how slowly cities are changing the ways of buildings to fit the post modern time period. When you look in most countries you used to see old buildings that have not been touched preserved. Now as technology advances architects design more buildings to fit new inventive ways. One of the works we looked at was the Guggenheim. This work is extremely post -modern compared to many buildings in New York. When you enter the building it is extremely different and interesting fitting the new ways of the times. The spherical shape makes you almost feel dizzy when walking around the looking at the art. This circular shape seems to be repetitive I’ve noticed in post- modern buildings. In London I am not sure the name of it but the building next to the globe is very post- modern. Its almost tinted glass skin is also in a spiral shape almost looking like an egg from far away. Post -modern buildings are also allowing people to expand the use of building just for a building. These new tinted glass buildings are now using their outsides to reflect advertisements for events and stores. This shows how the post-modern is using and adjusting to technologies in different ways including our architecture and how we build and create. As the future continues many more abstract buildings are being created.
